3 DAYS MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK WEEKEND SAFARI

Tour Summary

This 3 Day safari will take you to Uganda’s largest park known as Murchison Falls National Park, situated in Northwestern Uganda on an area of 3,840 sq km, gazetted in 1926 as a game reserve. It is characterized with Savannah grasslands and the Victoria Nile that flows through separating it into two (the northern and southern bank). Murchison Falls is home to over 451 bird species such as the Great blue Tura co, Goliath heron, the Shoebill, and the dwarf kingfisher among others, 76 mammal species, a big number of Nile crocodiles and above all the magnificent and thunderous Murchison Falls squeezing their way through a gorge that is 8m wide. All said, you will have an opportunity to enjoy both our safari game drives and the boat cruises along the Nile River.

Day 1: TRANSFER TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK (Travel Time 6 Hours)

Our driver guide will pick you up from your hotel or place of residence in Kampala and you transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. You will drive through the  North-west through the famous Luwero Triangle and Masindi Town, branch off for a visit to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for a guided Rhino walk and picnic lunch. You will then proceed to Murchison falls National Park with sightseeing enroute to your Lodge.

Day 2: GAME DRIVE, BOAT CRUISE AND TOP OF THE FALLS HIKE

After your breakfast, your guide will help you spot Elephant, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyena through the game drive and if you are lucky, the Lion. Return to the hotel for lunch. After lunch, go for a boat cruise upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. En-route, marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see elephants, waterbuck and the Uganda Kob. This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. After the cruise, you will then proceed for a hike to the Top of the Falls (approx. 1 hour). See where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you to transfer you back to the lodge.

Day 3: GAME DRIVE AND TRANSFER TO KAMPALA (TRAVEL TIME 6Hours)

After an early morning breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive for the last time through the park after which you will transfer back to Kampala. You will have lunch along the way.  You will arrive in the afternoon or evening and our guide will drop you at your hotel or place of residence in Kampala or at Entebbe airport to catch up with your flight back home or to your next destination. .
